As reported by his family, Asim Jamil, the well-known Islamic scholar[1] Maulana Tariq Jamil’s son, died away on Sunday in Talamba, Punjab.

DPO Khanewal Rana Umar Farooq Salamat confirmed that Asim Jamil was shot and died, saying he received a bullet in his chest, in an interview with Pakistani News.
“Nephew of Tariq Jamil has claimed that Asim Jamil shot himself,” Salamat stated.
He continued, “Police have also started looking into the incident.”
On the other hand, Maulana Tariq Jamil confirmed his son’s passing on X (formerly Twitter).
“Today in Tulamba, my son Asim Jamil passed away. The mood is melancholy because of this unintentional death,” he wrote.

“We request you all to remember us in your prayers on this sad occasion. May Allah grant my son a high place in heaven,” he added.
Punjab IG observes
Dr. Usman Anwar, the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police, has also been made aware of the incident and has instructed the DPO to gather forensic evidence in order to determine the cause of Asim Jamil’s death.
